Chinese police nab burglar after extracting DNA from blood in dead mosquitoes
Police in China have arrested a man accused of burg ling a home after extracting his DNA from blood found in dead mosquitoes.
The suspect, identified only by his surname Xia, was taken into custody in the city of Hangzhou last week, according to local media reports.
He is accused of stealing around 3,000 yuan ($430) worth of valuables from a home in the nearby city of Haining earlier this month.
Police say they were able to identify Xia as the prime suspect after finding traces of his blood at the crime scene.
The DNA was then extracted from two dead mosquitoes that had been collected from the scene and compared to samples taken from Xia during questioning.
